Dataclime: more than climate services – A Digital Academy to learn and use climate data

Our platform goes beyond offering climate data services and analysis—it also provides a valuable training opportunity: the “Digital Academy to Access and Use Climate Data and Monitor Climate Risks”. This online academy, developed as part of the Adaptation AGORA project and coordinated by CMCC, enhances access to climate data, facilitates its use, and monitors climate risks.

Adaptation AGORA, a Horizon Europe project launched in January 2023, supports the European Union’s Mission on Climate Adaptation. Its primary goal is to actively engage stakeholders and citizens in decision-making processes and in the development of tailored adaptation solutions that reflect the needs of local communities.

To achieve this, the project provides practical capacity-building tools to help people understand climate change and combat disinformation. Among these tools is the Digital Academy on Climate Data and Risks, hosted on Dataclime, which enables users to learn how to read, interpret, and effectively use climate data. The tool is designed to enhance the knowledge of a broad, non-specialist audience, making them more aware and engaged in climate action.

The Digital Academy is not just a gateway to climate data—it offers a structured learning path through a series of interactive learning modules, covering climate data fundamentals, modeling, risks, and adaptation strategies.

By aligning the goals of Dataclime and the Digital Academy, these platforms work together to transform climate data into clear, accessible, and tailored information, for those who need or are curious to understand and use this information and turn it into practical solutions.
